Photography by David Hamilton [Source]

I highly suggest that you go and see more fotos from this series because they are really lovely. Though many were not safe for work so I decided not to post many of my favorites up. In all honesty, this is the first time Ive actually viewed David Hamilton's work. Knowingly. Although, I might have seen editorials before without even realizing that they were his work. According to wiki, his style of photography has "long been at the forefront of the is it art or ist it pornography? debate". Im on the neutral side of this debate, actually. I think nude photography can be both depending on the photographer's intentions. I do find some to be rather distasteful and unneccessary whilst some, like the ones in this series by David Hamilton, can be very artistic and really beautiful. What do you think?

PS

The photos remind me so much of The Virgin Suicides.
Anyway, HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, LOVES!

I love them so much. I agree, think they can be both. I don't like when they're clearly pornography trying to be passed off as art though

I agree nude can be both. I love artistic nude shots because human bodies (of both sexes) can be really gorgeous. These shots are absolutely beautiful! They do remind me of The Virgin Suicides. Have a great weekend lovie xo

Wow, what beautiful photos! They're so gorgeous. I think that nude photography can definitely be art, when done tastefully and well. Otherwise... well, that's a whole other issue..

Thanks for stopping by -- your comment legit made me smile :) I am feeling better! haha

I adore the softness of these pictures. So pretty. Nudity can definitely be art, but so many photographers do it incredibly distastefully. It just usually seems unnecessary. I guess it's only really art, if the point of the picture is something more than the nudity, which it often doesn't seem to be.

Everybody loves a bit of soft focus, no?

I think he is celebrating the curvy lines and whimsical nature of young beauty, rather than being demeaning and using it for his own pleasure.

Nobody wants to see warts and all brutal porn, well that is not strictly true, but I certainly don’t.
Life is ugly enough at times.
The psychological background to that kind of nude photography is far more sinister that what I perceive David Hamilton to be doing.

Porn masquerading as art? The life story of humans surely? :0)

And Valentine, William Blake is one of my most loved artists ever. Fact.
I am in no way religious, but I to love a bit of religious art. I think it is to do with the skill and metaphors the paintings have in abundance. The story within them is so much deeper than just the religious aspect, they can be a chronicle about the enviroment, the artistic lean of the people and the earthly powers that be.

This a beautiful art. I see it as a lovely depiction of the sensuality in women, done with taste and a sense for the pristine and innocent. It is as if gazing at paintings from old masters, where the femininity was depicted in nude and with grace.
I simply love it!!;))
